Attention PNW Teardrop Campers

Postby Vedette » Tue Nov 04, 2014 10:27 pm

Hi my name is Brian Woods ....Vedette on the TnTTT and the Tear Jerkers Forums.
Although the camping season is coming to an end for most of us here in the Pacific North West, I would like to encourage all of you
(no matter what your club affiliation is) to stay involved over the upcoming winter months.
We need to take this time to "Share" with other like minded campers.....our stories, our glamping gadgets, our TD projects (builds, renos, repairs, detailing , etc.), our favorite campgrounds, our favorite Gatherings, our new found friends, our favorite new camping recipes, our favorite new piece of Cast Iron, our favorite new cheap campfire wine......okay you get the picture!
Whether you are a lone wolf, just lurking on the TnTTT, a TnTTT member, a T.O.W.member, a Tear Jerker member, a ROVT member, or a member of Sisters on the Fly, or any other Tiny Trailer oriented organization?.....I urge you to "Participate" in the off season discussions here on this Forum or any other Teardrop Forum you may visit.
As the "New Director for the Tear Jerkers PNW Chapter" it has just come to my attention that over the past week, our membership list has been pared down from 97 members to 27 members. If you joined the Tear Jerkers, but have never posted or have not visited their site in the past year. You have been deactivated! Not removed permanently! Thus, you no longer appear on the current membership list.
I know some of you are still here and actively camping, as Sandi and I have either camped with you, talked to you on the phone, e-mailed or PMed on one of the Forums, over the past year! :)
So, Please.......reactivate your membership on the TJ's, or join for the first time, and start participating in some of the discussions that will enhance your enthusiasm for Teardrop Camping.
This will ensure that we can have even more fun with each other in 2015 and give us something to look forward to.
At least it might help to SHORTEN this Winter!
Good Roads
Brian &Sandi
PS
My offer to represent the PNW was to include Washington, Oregon, Idaho, & Montana.
I am also currently the TJ Chapter Director for the B.C. Chapter.

Talking? TALKING? TALKING? Along the great divide we're supposed to lose 40ºF Tuesday. Camping season is dead. No time to talk, I gotta dig out the long-johns. Maybe find the windshield scraper. Talk er survive, those are the options right now. :frightened:

Does the PNW Chapter have a secret handshake? Wear robes around the campfire? :FNP

As a matter of fact I DO were a robe to the campfire :) It is sweatshirt weight and very warm, like a long, long hoodie.

Here in the North West we are more "Huggers" then "Hand Shakers" :wine:
Oh! And we can confirm the "robe" which goes with the special "B... Hutt".

I'm not so sure about the hugging part.
My family wasn't/isn't the hugging type.
My dad was born in England in 1908 and the family immigrated to Carbon, Alberta in 1920 to farm.
None of them were huggers. in fact as kids we weren't allowed to talk when adults were present. It was sit on the couch with your hands folded in you lap and shut up.
The good thing was we grew up to behave our self. Something todays kids don't understand.

Sounds like you need a hug! ;)
And we have something else in common besides our love for TDs.
My dad was born in England in 1912 and immigrated to Alberta in 1913.
Remember "Behave yourself and don't speak unless you are spoken to" as the last thing you heard before getting out of the car to visit anyone!
But our family were all "Kissers" and still are!

Hi Maureen
I have PMed Zach at the TJ Forum, asking him to start a thread on the TJ Form outlining how TJ chapter members can be reactivated.
Hopefully he is on this very soon.
If you cant login to read this?
Just click on my TJ Chapter logo contained in this or any of my posts.
It should take you directly there????
And Thanks for the e-mail.
Sandi and I are excited that you have included our Farm Gathering on your 2015 schedule.

Just did, worked great. Just as well I've had more to catch up on given that I've been too sick all work to get any building done and daytime TV is truly terrible.
'Tis the season...flu season !
Back on the build this weekend though, and should have plenty of miles on it by the time the Farm Gathering rolls around next summer.

Re: Attention PNW Teardrop Campers

Well, since you asked.....
We left on Monday Nov 10 with teardrop (Oregon Trail'R TerraDrop) in tow headed from Boise to Eugene OR to visit and camp. Got to Redmond and discovered that our Canadian neighbors had sent some frigid air our way so found a hotel. Visited in Eugene for a bit and were headed home but discovered that our California neighbors had sent some moist air that way and it was colliding with the cold air and producing snow. Thursday the 13th headed south to Klamath Falls, hoping to make an end run on the mountains and the snow by turning north at Lakeview (by the Oregon/California/Nevada border). Made it as far north as Burns where we were surrounded by fresh blowing snow. Left Burns this morning (Fri, the 15th) and enjoyed 170 miles of packed snow and ice. We averaged 35 mph but made it home to discover that there was 9" of fresh snow in our yard- this in an area that usually has rain in the winter. The only traction issue was ironic- after tucking the teardrop in storage, I had to use 4WD 4-lo to get out of the rutted parking lot. So, methinks 2014 camping season is over altho Arizona is a possibility.

Hi Loren & Claudia
You guys are troopers! :R
We have had cold temps but no sign of snow yet! 8) Clear and sunny!
But, after Lake Chelan our Camping season was over.
We had a great time and the weather was very camping friendly.
Maybe we can all head to Arizona for the winter next year?
Thanks for keeping in touch.
