Finally Found the Battery I Want!

It's kind of heavy though; it might bring my mileage down a little.

But I bet I can watch a whole bunch of movies before I have hit 50% DOD...

Great for winter camping tho- the electric blanket would stay on all night.

How long would it take to find the ONE battery that failed in that bank??

Not long.... Standard routine maintenance probably is each individual cell would have its voltage measured at least once a month... And readings (records) would probably indicate which sell is on its way to failing long before its a problem and needs to be changed out...

It's a redundant string so the load isn't dropped if a battery fails. 750 kW per UPS for a total 1.5mW of battery shown in the picture. There are six 750kW UPS in this building...

Bruce,

Nice!

...You might have to upgrade your solar panel array slightly... :R

Hi everyone, I test these kind of batteries monthly and one a year I perform a rundown test. The test helps assess the condition of the battery string and the likely load capacity for a predetermined load. The place the company uses these batteries is in the telecom industry. These are probably VRLA . Typically metal cased and gell lead acid filled, strapped in series for a 48 volt string. Sometimes several strings are in place as parrallel to increase capacity. Very reliable when properly charged and maintained. Txbum

Doh, and I'm out of roof space! It's going to take a whole lot of portable panels.
