HI-lo homebuilt?

Postby Greg Barrick » Sun Jan 04, 2015 8:33 am

Asking a weird questin.
Has anyone built a TD/Standie using PU truck camper jacks to lift the top half to make a "hi-lo" camper? I wonder if it would be feasible.

I'm sure it could be done same principle as a pop up tent camper except they use cables and pulleys it may work better more ridged less sway

You are talking about using slide in truck camper jacks like these on the outside of the camper to lift the upper half?

The only thing I can tell you is the set I have are heavy and expencive, even the cheap ones are pricy.

Exactly, Dr.Crash. I happen to have a set of 4 and a 13-1/2 ft. trailer frame waiting on new trailer design. I like Vardos, but they catch too much air in transport.

I think if you could some how hide them in the inside corners and your ok with the weight , you could do something with them.
Are they manual or electric ?

Mine are manual, but an electric drill makes them faster. I probably could mount them inside, handle or drill from the out side.
Just thinking out loud. Could possibly make a hi-low 7 x 12 vardo with 4 x 7 fold down rear deck.

The main thing with a telescoping TTT is to get it so that the top
raises evenly all around when lifting, as the Hi-Lo did.
