Interested in Restoring a Spartan?

Postby aggie79 » Fri Nov 27, 2015 4:13 pm

On our travels this week we drove through the small town of Lusk, Wyoming. There we spotted three Spartan travel trailers. I didn't see a for sale sign or anything indicating they might be for sale. Here are pictures of two of the three:

I love that model Spartan. Someday maybe. I still have lots to do on my 1951 Silver Streak Clipper. My hope is to get it on the road next year. But this model Spartan could be an "in the future" park model for me. Hopefully someone will restore these beauties.

Hey Tom,
There are 3 for sale on Tulsa Craigslist. One is an early 25ft Manor which would make a great RV. I've had several of these and they were never RV's they were all Park models. They have/had no holding tanks or 12volt amenities. I currently have a 46 Manor and dream of it being done someday for currently I'm working on the 73 Argosy and 56 King Richard tear.

Ron,
It would be my dream to restore one as an RV. Lusk is pretty far away but Tulsa is certainly do-able. My wife has family in Inola. They also have 10-12 acres of land and a big shop. Hmmm. I may have to look up that Tulsa CL. Take care, Tom

Reminds me of this beauty along with the tin woodie.
My grandparents lived in a Spartan one block off Colorado Blvd in Pasadena, CA.
We would walk to the boulevard to watch the Rose Parade in the 1950's & 60's.
Wasn't enough room for the whole family in the Spartan so my brother & I would sleep on the patio.
The rumble of the train a few yards away would wake us, lots of fun then.
The trailer park is gone now replaced with a huge chain drug store.

You could section about 8-10 feet out of those and make a decent towable RV out of them. Someone did that on one that appeared in the Vintage Trailer magazine. Doug

Great idea Doug on "sectioning" a Spartan for use as a travel trailer. If I had a shop, I'd give this a go.
