Need ideas.. AC vent

Postby vegask » Wed Mar 16, 2016 6:50 pm

Building my tear and will have a window AC unit permanently installed in the interior center. I have not decided if I will offset it to one side or center it. If I center it I will exhaust it to the roof, if I offset it I will run the exhaust to that side.

What I cant figure out of find something that looks good is an exterior vent. I've thought of using a marine deck plate that I would have to unscrew when I get to camp. Or use something like this (3" is a tad to small for a AC exhaust though)

Anyway, if anyone has an idea I would love to hear it.

If you are married to the permanently attached try marine vents rather than RV more selection.
This works well and levies you with more storage.

I built a tongue box, right up tight against the lower, flat front of my teardrop. My little AC unit slides into it nicely, with the cool air being blown in through a hole that matches the AC location, with a scoop to direct the air up toward the ceiling, and the exhaust opening is below it, and lines up with the matching AC exhaust. I installed a grill in the front of the tongue box, which allows the compressor air to be exhausted properly. It has worked great for 14 years, and no one even knows my little 450 lb TD has elect heat and AC as well. Check it out, it works just fine.

That's a great idea, Roly. Thanks for sharing it. I think I shall incorporate that idea into my build... assuming I ever get around to building.

Camp-inn one is pretty cool, similar to the Moby1 one but bigger.

Anyone know where I can find a vent hood like this one? All the ones I am finding are huge.
