New Project...New Start

Postby Davagio » Wed Mar 30, 2016 12:23 am

Well everyone its been a while since i have been on here. Last month (on February 10th) I got rear-ended by a man going about 60 mph in a newer Chevy truck while i was at a stop turning left. Up until that point i had towed my 850lb 1972 Boler (Fiberglass Camper) over 30,000k miles in a year and a half. Long story short the trailer basically exploded and went into the back of my suv shattering my back glass and the top half ended up on top of my vehicle totaling it as well. So that day i lost my home and my Suv got totaled (The SUV i had fixed to the best of my abilities) i am now selling the SUV because the frame of the trailer knocked off the towing hitch of the SUV and bent my right rear frame down about 3 inches. So here i sit designing a new home for myself. I will try to throw in some pictures along the way...this was the outside, The renovated inside, and the aftermath.

Would you like to have another Boler?
They are fairly plentiful here!
Hopefully you got a good settlement from your insurance company to replace your home.

I agree with what has been said...the trailer most likely saved your life or at the very least, prevented serious injury. Stopping on a highway to turn left is always a concern of mine. And when towing a trailer it's not as easy to see what is coming up from behind.

i think the trailer did absorb alot of the impact for sure, the frame took a hit as well...The Lord was looking out for me that day for sure.

Thank you brother i appreciate that it has been really tough mentally but i guess we have to take the good with the bad.

I think i am going to just start a new build, i thought about getting another Boler but i just had so many issues with that thing through the year and a half i owned it that i think starting from the ground up would be a better option for me. And the insurance is just a mess! still going through that ordeal, honestly the insurance is the worst part of it all to be honest.

Yeah i could never see what was behind me because my trailer was always wider than my mirrors, so i definitely know that feeling for sure. I guess maybe its good in a way because tensing up probably would make getting hit like that worse? who knows at the end of the day.
