DIY Aluminum/Race Style Base & Wall Cabinets?

Postby jemo » Mon Apr 04, 2016 8:50 pm

I've searched the site but didn't find anything. Any ideas or ways to add some cabinets that have an aluminum face? I know I can probably build the cabinets with wood and then cut out aluminum to fit the face but what about doors and hardware? Has anyone made the doors or know something budget-like where they can be bought pre-made? This is for an enclosed trailer I'm using as a toy hauler/sleeper.

Thanks,
Jeff

I thought about buying a Horrible Fright toolbox and disassembling it to repurposeit for my trailer.
You should do it to see if it's a good idea or not and post up.

This guy laminated Alu onto a wood substrate to make a wide mirror frame, but the same methods will work for doors and trim too

Its not the same but you might look into high pressure laminate (e.g., Formica). They have "metal" laminates.
