You do mean "floor" rather than "flour", correct? The first being the horizontal structural component you stand on, the latter being finely ground particles.

Flour can be made from cereal grains other than wheat. If it is glacial or rock flour, it is instead finely-ground bits of rock caused by grinding from glacial erosion.

Cornmeal, then it doesn't stick and you can flip it easier.

SC, We still use the black nasty stuff ... Not the most Fun to apply but is inexpensive and really seems to protect the bottom ... We also tried the spray undercoating , but that was more expensive ...

I'm all most done insulating underneath my CT. I'm using ridged foam, that petroleum eats. I want to coat it with something inexpensive, what is the black nasty stuff?

Mike, I used some kind of asphalt coating mixture, either asphalt roof coating or fence post coating. Think the brand name may have been Henry's?? You should be able to find it at any Farm/Ranch supply store. It goes on sticky but mine dried to touch in a day or so. I then cut 1" thick blueboard foam insulation into sections & fitted them into the recesses that my frame created under the actual floor board (1/2" exterior grade plywood). Lotsa folks don't like the black, sticky stuff but mine went on easily, dried relatively fast & has held up well for nearly 10 years & almost 30K miles. Think I may have used a bead or two of liquid nails or some other adhesive between the foam & the floor, but mainly I cut small (1/2" square) 'battens & stapled 'em to the frame to help hold the foam in place. My computer is running slow this morning, else I'd post a pic of the foam that I took last year. It still looks almost as good as the day I installed it. Little or no damage to the foam from road debris or other causes...

I over-did mine, but I sealed the ply with the initial level of the mix, then covered the floor bottom first with PMF using TB2 on both sides of the canvas, let harden for a week and then did two coats of what we call"Kool Seal" (elastometric roof coating). I used cool seal because 1) I know it works on roofs and 2) I had 5 gallons of the stuff laying around and needing to be used. All things considered, I'd do the same thing again, as it is really easy to clean. After over 4000+ miles so far on Conch Fritter, it looks just like it did the day I put it on. 1 gallon will easily cover the bottom of a small camper with plenty left over after 2 coats.

Yeah my lap top is always changing what I write. I have caught it while typing at times… "why the flip are you changing that??" If I don't catch it, or proof read some pretty bizarre stuff gets out.

Hi Slow, I understand I made a mistake by covering the bottom of my floor with plywood. It is a good place to get dryrot, in the event the enclosed area gets wet and can't dryout. My 1/4 inch woody bottom has been shot with LineX, an expensive truckbed liner. Big mistake, since I feel it added unwanted weight to my tear, because is is so thick and heavy. My other tear's bottoms, are simply coated with roofing mastic, applied with a brush, requiring throwing away the clothing worn while application was made. No problems so far. I suggest you do the same, and leave off the sheet metal you mentioned. Keep us posted as to what you are gonna do.
