Kayaks on the TD

Does anyone carry Kayaks on top of their TD ? What kind of rack system would be recommended? Or can you put a trailer behind a TD with Kayaks or canoes?

Lots of folks build their teardrops with this in mind, you just have to consider the hatch when it's open.

Lots of posts: search.php?search_id=newposts

we've got a cedar-strip canoe that we carry on my Tacoma. For what we do, it wouldn't make sense to have the rack on the teardrop, since that would limit paddling from camp. This way we can park the teardrop at the spot we want to camp at and then drive to the water body we would like to paddle.

But you can make it work for you if that's your cup of tea.

Thanks Tony that makes a lot of sense. I usually just put the Kayaks in the back of the truck and let them over hang but want to put them on top of either the TD or truck so I have the truck bed to haul other needs. Thanks for your input I will think that over.
PS: I like your canoe did you make it?

Yep, it's a Freedom 15. Quite stable but cuts the water like a quiet knife.
