It's 10000 BTU but the outside condenser and ductless operation seems perfect. Could even drill the floor for install instead of the walls or ceiling. Massdrop has it for 399 which is almost cheap enough for me to give it a shot. If it had a super low or eco setting it might work.

The 10000 BTU size would make me think it would want to freeze up.

I would be interested in hearing from folks that have tried one or seen one in action.

10000 seems like a lot of BTUs for a teardrop. I've been shopping for something 5000 or under.

Yeah totally a lot. about 10 times a lot but at that price and set up the way it is it's almost perfect.

So doesn't a "mini-split" air conditioner like that put the cooling (evaporator) coils in the trailer? What about the condensation that results? It's in the trailer too.

Just curious.

Mine is gonna have a ducted system similar to this one. Now while this one you see is a 2500 btu which costs around $400 (which is utterly ridiculus) I will use a standard 5000 btu unit and retrofit ducts onto the front of it. There was another user here that had posted photos of his but i cant seem to locate it. But its a simple build nonetheless.

The article is here http://tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=44561 The advantage is you get to leave it home and 5,000BTU is about right for our 400 cubic foot interior. With 10,000 you would be short cycling and not dehumidifying.

Since the cooling unit is interior I am guessing it's not dehumidifying anyways. Since excess water is trapped.

I will likely go with the climate right units since they also have the heat feature built in without added price. Just thought it was an interesting concept and wondered why their aren't more of these in smaller sizes for places like server closets.

Admittedly I just glanced at the link, but most mini-splits have a condensate tube bundled with the refrigerant lines that carry the condensate to the "outside".

It's gonna dehumidify whether you like it or not. Moisture is going to condense out of the air on the cooling coils (which are in the trailer) and has to be removed.

Makes more sense if there is a drain run incorporated into connections. There has to be some way to deal with it if the cooling coils are inside. But if it is short cycling like others mentioned who knows. Perhaps it would allow the moisture to evaporate again between cycles.
