That's a really tiny trailer... 3' x4'. What you going to build on that? How about a 4' wide version of the Midget Trailer?

leave off the fenders.
2.
through-bolt a pair of 8 ft long 2x6 skids just inside the wheels, edge-up, thoroughly waterproofed

on top of the 2x6s set an insulated weekender (5'6'' wide, 9' long)
4.
add the fenders I like, built like Roly's 1/2-Nelson Woody (and using the insides of these fenders to store/carry stuff

It's not a huge trailer but it comes with a steel bottom and can carry 1400 lbs and has the 12 inch wheels.

My first thought is that trailer sounds too small for what you are doing.

I would go at least 5' wide for that 5'6" body, and 5 1/2' would be better yet. As it is you'll have to build wheel wells into the body.

I saw chip's sketch of a platform bed/box and simplified it by using just the long rails under the weekender. I saw your improvements that lighten the weekender, too. How heavy is galvanized corrugated metal paneling in terms of the weight of a 4x10 sheet of the stuff, and how heavy is Lexan?
