Tarping for Winter

My camper sits outside so I should throw a tarp over it all winter for protection. I found some 1/2 " p v c pipe my wife had cut and saved. I used these across the camper roof and tied at each grommet. The tarp extends slightly over each side because of the pipe and when bungeed down the pipes bend in a nice curve. Easier to put on the tarp by myself also.

I am storing mine in a garage. If I was storing outside and creating a shelter for it I would make sure there was good air flow in the trailer cover to allow moisture and condensation that develops as the air warms and cools over and over to evaporate. My goal would be to prevent mold and rot.

The problem I had with a tarp is it had water puddling due to lack of slope. Moisture was trapped where the tarp laid flat on the roof. I used an old deflated basket ball on the metal vent top to give the tarp some slope. Nice air space under the tarp. The P V C pipe under the tarp bends in a nice curve when bungeed. I've got both now and it's working out very well.

I bought this cover off of Amazon for about $70. If I recall, it was for a T@B camper. I had to cut it down and drag out the sewing machine.

''JUST'' bought the same cover for mine - $68.20 from Amazon. 6 years - sounds good - Hope it lasts as well - have been using the Costco Car Cover for the last few years, which has done fine BUT this new trailer is now bigger and the car cover from the GEO Metro just doesn't fit very well any longer being the old trailer was a 4x8 and this one now is 5x8 along with being somewhat taller...................(still have the Metro so all is not lost.... )

Geez, that's a lot better than my sad tarp. But on the plus side, it held up in strong wind and rain hasn't got under it.

Turn head 180 degrees. :-(

I use a Sunbrella cover on mine. It does real well under there, year after year after year!

got the "Classic Accessories" 8-10 ft teardrop cover that Tony Latham mentioned here installed on my 5x8 and it is a 'nice' fit!! There was enough to cover the fenders and the tongue box being this cover is made with some extra in it for the somewhat taller T@b /T@g it was made for. My trailer has the shape of a Benroy. This cover seems well made with two zippered door accesses - one for the right side door and the other for the rear kitchen door. It also has two roof line ventilation slits - one on each side, along with it coming with 2 underside adjustable tie straps. Am happy so far with what I got for the $70 on Amazon - they have 3 different sizes - a 8 ft -a 8-10 ft - and a 10 ft version available. Take care

Cowboy - been there already -many a-time and let me tell you - cheap car covers - suck!!! "cheap car covers" are not for me any longer being as I said earlier, they don't fit teardrops very well and the $20 versions you speak of don't last very long and that's speaking from experience - $20 doesn't get you much of a car cover these days and these days I would rather spend a bit more and buy a cover that fits along with lasting and as was said here earlier, "he has had his for 6 years so far" well I am here to tell you - I have NEVER had one of the cheapy's from W-M last much longer than a year or two (this is spoken from the 9 years I had a cover(s) on my today "driver" when I had it parked saving it for the future - 2003/2012 when I made it my 'daily driver' - which it is now, today is the future (and why save it? parked #6 Metro/Swift in 2012 after 300 thou miles and this one is #7 - !!paid for,43++mpg!! and being retired now - it doesn't get any better for just putzing around on the CHEAP!!!! .
