The smallest camper and a roof

Hi

I was in France for my hols this summer and came across two things of interest.

I think this must be the smallest camper I have seen.
It's a 2 cylinder town delivery van. The bed is inside and the tent is so he could put his pants on stood up, no more.
Its a German number plate on a campsite in the North East of France near Reims, say 400 miles from Germany.



And this tent. It was bolted to the Roof along the side of the van.
I understand it had sides and full enclosed the back and side of the van
The owner was a plumber and used the van as his work van so he could always work under cover.

I have thought about something like that before. Those little three wheelers are not imported to the U.S. so that gets ruled out. I have also looked at the mini 4x4 trucks. Most are not road legal in my state. So to get a short wheel base camper I would have to go with the cab over 1 ton chassis style or a SWB van.

Cushman made a small 3-wheeled van and there are still a few of them out there

as made w/ 18-20hp engines they would only do about 45mph butt there more updated engine offerings out there that would allow them to legally travel public highways(maintaining 45mph)

Tuk-Tuks are also making it to our land from the orient

That's a nice setup someone built. With me being 6' tall that little setup rules out a regular bed. Its just to short of a package. Also I am not fond of the base vehicle used. Those are to narrow and to tall. To easy to roll one over, same applies to a Jeep. I like wider based vehicles.

Swoody those Chushman's have gotten way over priced and hard to find. I would love to have one for beating around town.

I love how they added the grey accent to the hood and doors to give it that "factory" look.

Hmmm...what can I do with this old pick up topper and pile of corrugated siding?

The car was probably rear ended and was too expensive to fix hence....this.

I rebuild vintage campers for a living so many times I need to travel a great distance to get a piece pf junk to rebuild so I am planing a truck camper that isn't massive and top heavy like most and I was thinking about these utility camper tops with the rear doors for a while and this is giving me ideas on how to add a little more height.
