Time for a new stove.

It's time to replace our old green 2 burner stove. It's getting old, dirty and has taken a beating over the years.

We are looking at the Colman stove/grill combo. The only issue I see is the aluminum grill. There was a review I saw that the grill had melted trying to boil water.
Also when I got our "Pie Iron" , I was told to avoid the aluminum made unit and find the cast iron version. This is my only 2 concerns about this.
Do any of you have this grill/stove combo ???
Thoughts , etc.

I’ve been using one for several years now with no problems. I also got the skillet top for pancakes etc.

There's been some controversy over the years about harmful effects of cooking with aluminum.
To be safe, I got rid of everything in the kitchen that's made out of aluminum.
Others may not agree, but you can never be too careful, especially when other products are available.

My concern would be how easy it is to clean if you actually grill on it.

As far as aluminum and health, the Alzheimer's Association calls that Myth #4.

I too am going with a replacement for my old Coleman with a KampKook. Ha ha

but YES !! Aluminum melts at much lower temp's than steel/cast iron. Don't remember the temp, but it is at a much lower temp and that 'melting' temp is close to being achievable on a camp-stove if left on the burner too long!! Steel/cast iron 'melts' at much higher temps - less chance of them melting - but all of these items - no matter the type of medal - can be damaged by too high of heat being used - warping, etc .............

found out the temp's: Aluminum melts at about 1200 degrees - where Cast Iron's melt temp is 2200 degrees - steel 2500 degrees - note: these temp's are for melting, "warping" damage happens at lower temp's, before the 'melting' temps are reached ........................

Man I'd never get rid of my trusty 1966 425 Coleman! Now I have added other cooking tools like the stainless grill, and the Blackstone flat top. But I have the space so I can pack more. I also have a thing for outdoor cooking appliances. My thinks its a problem. She can't understand why I need 4 smokers, all these grills, blah blah, blah!









Nor would I get rid of my little single burner. Its a 1972 and I bought it when I was 8 for $5 in "Blind Box" deal at an auction my parents went and I went to. It came in a aluminum pot with lid. The lid turns into a pan. Never cooked in either. It also came with the heater top.

I have the same 1 burner in the aluminum box which doubles as a pot. My goto for backpacking short distances and scooter trips.

Well im starting to re-think this new camp stove. Maybe I can get a small griddle , use my existing stove and clean it up. No use replacing what isn't broken. Plus that $ could go elsewhere more important.
Any small griddle's you guy's recommend ?
I found a 10.5" reversible single burner griddle that looks promising.

The 10.5" fits perfectly even on our lil 2 burner, which turns out....It's not even a Coleman .
Oh well.

Man that thing is dirty.
I have some major cleaning to do. Also picked up a bag for it. Gonna sew/modify it to hold the griddle as well.

I use the camp chef oven and two burner stove combo(propane). Works amazing. I use them in all of my builds. I place them on a pull out drawyer...Bass Pro has them on sale from time to time. I am by no means supporting Bass Pro.

I ended up using quick dry wax & grease remover to clean it up. Looks practically new now.

With as much as I wanted a new stove/grill combo, the aluminum turned me away. Especially since I could get cast iron going this route.
