August 2022 We left our friends house in Montana and made our way down along the Snake River in Idaho. Camp was a beautiful dispersed BLM site right on a back water of the river.
“When You're Alone” When you're in the kitchen, you've got to behave You don't put metal in the microwave The knobs on the stove are “hands off” no doubt And when you make toast, don't use a knife to fish it out! When you're alone, when you're alone You got to stay safe when you're home all alone. When you're alone, when you're home all alone You got to make sure not to die, or choke or burn the house down.
This portion is East (or north) of Quebec City up to La Malbaie. Actually to Tadoussac but we turned off and headed inland at La Malbaie. Views of the St Lawrence or Le Fleuve St Laurent. You leave Rt 138 in Baie-Saint-Paul and run along RT 362. The views really start through here and several places to pull over and enjoy! Canyon charlevoix is just off this road and a waterfall, yet I just never noticed the turn.. something for next time. Astronomical Observatories and Charlevoix Meteorite Crater is anther good stop to learn how you are (have been) driving through (in) an Impact crater! Real nice view from their parking lot with picnic tables. We did drive to Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu, it's quite busy there and barely anywhere to park. Towing anything would have been tougher.. I didn't know it's a Casino! I did know the G12 (or G8) Summit was held there and wanted to see it and the view. Easier parking and better view in town! Just out of town is Jardin des lilas de Cap-à-l’Aigle (chutes d’eau) and again I missed the turn.. GPS was just not my friend through here.. Your back on Rt 138 now and it's a short hop to Saint-Siméon where we turned off. Rt 138 from here to Tadoussac turns inland until Baie Saint Catherine. There is a great viewing station there, yet depending on Ferry traffic, yes a ferry (free) it can be tough (and crowded) to get into. Great spot to watch for Minke's and the Beluga's that home in the Bay. There's another great spot in Tadoussac I'll talk about when we get there.
We traveled Sept-Iles to Havre-Saint-Pierre with a few stops along the way, including another nice overnight spot. The rain and fog was starting to turn for the worst. By the time we reached the archipelago is was barely 100 yard visibility. Reports for weather were not promising for the next few days. We started back.. I even had reports of the ferry delaying runs to Newfoundland due to the storm.. Ya, we'll re-schedule this run..
I can't post Youtube videos anymore using this: It used to be, I could paste in the tail end (that's in blue) of the Share URL and it would work... https://youtu.be/sXoW2NlgVRk?si=sHkUphEiEAiPNGx_

I don't use the share button as it comes out different. I noticed the extra character at the end of yours like this one using the share and embed feature. https://youtu.be/oJjRpVUJgT0?si=fDCnke_zaqVbu_e-
We haven't been camping since June. I was waiting for racing on the Bonneville saltflats but... rain canceled every event this year. I did volunteer for a off road race locally and that did happen. Had my own checkpoint. If you like V8's and long travel suspension here you go. https://youtu.be/p0dy4SBxhy8?si=QBHKtkDbYfhDp6bx
August 2022. Between leaving the Snake River and heading back to Texas for the work season we stopped in the Pike National Forest of Colorado. With only a couple of days left in our three month trip I was looking for fun things to do in the area. A quick internet search showed that we were really close to Pikes Peak and I instantly knew what we had to do.....drive to the top

On Campobello Island! Customs was weird and we did get the camper searched. I think they were bored.. The island is easy enough to get around on and the Provincial park is good. On season it would be crowded! Nice hot showers though! Huge field that's the main CG and rough wooded sites of decent size. Not the best of CG's as it dated and not much improvement over the years. Electric on site, water in locations (mostly at bath houses.
Only a couple beaches that are accessible easily and another we doubt on season you'd be able to get near as there's really no public parking. Love the hike out to East Quoddy Head at low tide, but again.. on season and busy.. Roosevelt Cottage was fun and great guided tour.
Best time to go there is definitely offseason! The island is just too small. Nice place and did enjoy our short visit.
We did get to check out the camp spot I'd hope to on our way back Several places along Rt 9 in Maine to stay overnight and this was another I wanted to see. Maine has public lands up in this region you can stay on for free. This site is far enough from the highway yet close enough for a good overnighter spot when heading into New Brunswick. Saying that, it's a nice spot to speed a few days (up to 14 days) right there!
Even with the Tropical storm getting us kicked off Campobello and the rain for the ride home, it was a fun run!
The CrowsWing Teardrop Finally Lands in Baja! After several years of wishing we could go, we were finally able to make it happen. In December 2023, with all our required documentation, we crossed the southern border at Calexico California. Our first few days in Baja were spent on a beach just north of San Felipe. This is the first in a series of videos documenting our adventure.
