Vintage Trailer Supply Catalog

Postby Louisd75 » Thu Nov 28, 2019 12:44 pm

I ran across this 1936 trailer parts catalog on Internet Archive:

https://archive.org/details/TrailerSupplyCo

You can scroll through it online or download it in several formats for offline reading. There are some neat ideas in there, some of which are still relevant.

:)

For those unfamiliar with Internet Archive, it's a pretty neat website. They bill themselves as "a non-profit library of millions of free books, movies, software, music, websites, and more." You can usually download free copies of things that are out of copyright and digitally borrow things that are still within copyright.

Thanks for the link! That is a very interesting manual. Lots of ideas, even if we can’t buy from it.

Is this a modern equivalent? The Trailer Parts Outlet.

I think there are a few modern equivalents... eTrailer, Trailer Parts Outlet, Six Robblees. I'm sure I'm missing a few others :)

Wow, I'm using the same latch set 83 years later:

That old catalog is just plain neat.

I got one of these off of the pickup shell I got for free (well, for some tractor work I did). Now I know more about it. I think it was set up to pressurize the camper while driving. The louvers were facing forward, mounted on the roof.

Also, I have one of these in my camping gear. I got it from my great aunt, who liked to travel and carried it along in lots of trips across the US. My guess is that they got it in the early 30s. It will be part of my little trailer loadout.
