You might contact Hagerty Insurance in Traverse City, MI. They insure classic teardrops that car restorers occasionally pull with their classic cars. When I contacted them a few years ago they were considering homebuilt teardrop coverage to add to their business. It's worth a phone call.

In these discussions the main focus seems to be replacement cost? I am more concerned with liability issues. Does your primary auto coverage include any possible liability of the trailer? Should documentation of the build include substantiation of engineering claims for foamies? IE most agents will have trouble believing that a foam and glue shell will not blow or fall apart.
