Thanks Friz. Was well worth the effort.
I guess over a week I spent maybe 15 hours fabricating and painting.
But those 15 hours got me some serious brownie points, and knocked about $500 off the cost of the job, too.

First winter camping for the TD. We decided to do an impromptu camping trip to the Indiana Dunes National Park. Was about 40 degrees the first night and dropped to 30 overnight. Little heater and electric blanket kept us nice and toasty. Only condensation was on the windows this morning. A drop of water hit the wife on the forehead this morning from the skylight window, and I said reason 22 not to put a stargazer window in a TD . One more overnight tonight, and maybe another hike. That first photo really sums up the minimalist approach mate.
Your Silverado in the foreground, with your TD, everything you need for a good trip and you'd barely know it is hooked behind the truck.
And in the background, a near identical Chev, but he's towing an apartment block behind him.
He's using three times as much fuel, and white knuckles all the way.

Great shot.

Nice!

We're thinking of stopping there this Summer (after the EAA event at Oshkosh), on our way to Upstate New York. Either the National Park or the State Park. I understand there is a train from there to Chicago and we want to meet family in the city.

Isn't winter camping nice ?
No people, no bugs and sometimes no fee's.

I spent the weekend doing repairs. Had a talk with the jeep the other day and said "We are going to Moab, if there's anything that needs to be fixed please let me know".
2 days later the 4yr old water pump bearings went bad.
So, new Flowcooler pump, fan clutch, belt and hi pressure power steering hose installed and ready for red rock this spring. ImageImage

All good stuff. Need to be ready for camping!

I got the KTM-450EXC apart today. It quit running last time out right in the campground as I was suiting up (glad I wasn't on trail). No spark. I replaced the pick up coil in the stator assembly this week and now I decided to check and adjust valves, and all the other maintenance checks on the list.

Going camping/riding in early March and need to be ready!

Spring is in the air! Well autumn (fall) here.
But still - camping season!

Today, I finished a little job I've been playing around with in very short bursts. It's been 110F here for about 6 days in a row, so not a lot of external activity, just an hour or so here and there. I turn a bit nocturnal in weather like this.
But, I got here done.
Laminated some 90mm x 35mm pine pieces into a block.
Cut V-notches at varying heights.
Upholstered it (I use the term loosely).
Tried it out.
Rear rest for the rifle for bench shooting.
Not the prettiest thing I've ever made.

Got 19 out of 20 in the 200 yard bunny shoot this month at an average of 9 points per hit. Determined to make it 20/20 for 200 points next month.
Have to shoot better than 1 moa to get all tens.

Today, at a doll house show, Shelly sold the three benches I'd made a few weeks ago

I turned around and bought a used Micro-Mark scroll saw from someone else at the same show.

About an afternoon of my time spent in the woodshop, a new sharp blade for the utility knife, some scrap wood, and I've paid for a brand new, used tool! Life doesn't get any better!

My woman's 2nd gen Liberty (KK) got rid of the HT's and now riding on her first set of BFG AT's.
It's lifted 2" and on some 30x9.50x15's .
3.75 backspacing clears the brakes.
Took it on it's 1st off-road trail.
Did well aired down to 18psi.
Also the new dog rode along .

I recently replaced my fence with a nice welded steel fence. It was a golden opportunity to add an HF ham radio antenna this morning.

The radio normally lives in my teardrop.

I’ve also added a game camera to see what is coming through my yard at night.

That reminds me. On Saturday, I was able to buy 1000 rounds of Winchester FMJ Target, in 0.223 Remington, for the princely sum of 47 cents US per round.
Made in USA. $700 Australian for a carton of 50 packs of 20 rounds each. That's $470 US.
They had more than one carton. I'm tempted to buy more at that bargain price, but I'm worried that it might lose quality in storage if I take a long time to use it.
I've been using Remington UMC FMJ. Same 55 grn bullet weight, same advertised muzzle velocity of 3240 FPS.
My rifle is a Winchester XPR, I'm keen to get out to the range and see if Winchester branded ammo magically shoots better.
My local dealer was selling 300 round Remington freedom buckets for $300, but he was down to his last bucket, and wanted to keep it for himself.
So, when my mate asked if I felt like a trip to the smoke to pick up a heap of tyres for customer's cars, I got on the blower and started ringing around.
Discovered a hardware shop I'd never heard of before, with a very good range of cheap ammo.
I doubt the local goats and the little fallow deer we get around here will care that the word target is printed on the box?

I started to spin up an 8wt fly rod for a trip to Alaska in August.

That's cocobolo, birch bark, and a composite cork ring. It's been a while since I've done this but so far, so good. :frightened:
