Looks like the framing is 3/4 marine grade ply, skin is 1/4" ply, whole assemblies are thoroughly coated with epoxy resin and fiberglass. He smoothed it using Bondo and painted it.

From the series I have seen, it looks really nice so far... A lot could transfer over to camper builds.

Link?? I'd like to see this!

It's this guy and this series... He is doing a roof top tent build, but the techniques look applicable.

On my own setup. it is raining like cats and dogs so I am doing inside stuff. I set up the Joolca Ensuite Double and replaced the guylines with reflective 550 paracord. Not that the Joolca guylines aren't reflective. They are, but they are a MUCH lighter duty material. The paracord is MUCH more abrasion resistant, so yeah there is that...

There is a guy on Pinterest / Vimeo that is going a Fomaie Truck camper build that is along the lines of what I am trying to do. Not sure about the weird after the truck bed box where the tailgate should be as that will utterly destroy departure angles. I guess he REALLY wanted a storage box back there. BUT... what I am getting at is..

#1 foamie construction.
#2. Basically an overblown camper shell.
#3 extends the living space over the, well tailgate area.
#4. Wider than the truck bed to allow for a king size mattress.
#5. Potentially pop up roof.

https://www.pinterest.com/pin/778278379328446331/

I haven't seen his whole build series, looks like he is using an aluminum framing.

I am coming along to a potential solution.

#1 Wood skeleton frame using corner braces to pull things square. Use Mortise and Tenon where I can. Dowels where M&T won't work well.
#2. Run 1x6 length along outer on passenger side to mount the awning.
#3. Reinforced framing for door frame, door, and AC mount.
#4. Foamed voids. XPS foam.
#5. Pop up top. Canvassed.

Lawn cart about finished

Postby noseoil » Sat Oct 30, 2021 8:36 am

Here's where we are now with the lawn cart build, it's about finished now. Are these tires too big, should I have used skate board wheels to save money?

Today, I painted the rubber trim around the RV windows on my trailer with “Armor All Original UV Protectant Spray” for automotive surfaces.

Four years ago, I wanted to build another steel barn to house my trailer but never got around to it. Consequently, my trailer has set out in open sun, year round, for the last four years.

The surface of the rubber deteriorated to some degree, enough to bother me.

The first coating appeared to have either soaked in (I hope) or evaporated (I suspect so) in just a few hours. So I applied another thick coat. I squirted the fluid into a plastic cap and used a small 3/8 inch wide chip brush to lather on the stuff. I did not wipe it off.

If anybody knows of some better stuff, that might possibly have some curative properties, please let me know.

Today I picked up the pieces and started with them and found very early the 7 1/4" saw won't fit On/In the intended pieces; So now I get to (fix it) While the Glue dries

Been flat on my back since Tuesday after work. You know how they tell you you can only get Chicken Pox once? That is complete BS... This is #3 for me. And it is a LOT rougher the older you get...

There seems to be a just over 22 year gap between infections. Might want to get that in my record and talk to doc about boosters....

I walked up the street to visit Reg.
In about a month, he has built a trailer chassis for a 9 x 5, taken it to Adelaide, brought back a ship load of materials, bought his doors and hurricane hinge, some windows, put the decking on the trailer, fabricated one wall for a "squaredrop" and started the other.
All this while battling permanent damage to his balance brought about by some medication he had during a recent serious health event.
He's chosen a way of doing his walls that most don't.
He obtained Signbond, a 5 x 10 aluminium composite sheet.
The stuff that has a coloured skin of aluminium on each side with a layer of foam in the middle. https://www.signbond.com/
All up about 3mm thick.
That is the outer skin.
The inner skin is 3mm MDF that has an embossed wood grain layer of melamine on one surface.
The next parts of the puzzle are thirty mm expanded polystyrene sheets.
Comes in three densities, he chose the most dense.
Last part of the puzzle is 30mm x 30mm pine framing.
So he cut the MDF to shape, assembled his framing on the back side and glued it down with ordinary old neutral cure silicone, cut and laid sheets of polystyrene on more silicone in the voids, applied more silicone, laid his aluminium composite sign bond on top, weighed it down and left it to set.
It came out really well.
The walls will sit om top of his floor and be secure by screws driven up from underneath.
I'll ask him if I can take pictures next time.

Due to the high fever I had to do a telehealth visit witht the doc. NOT chicken pox, The pox themselves blew up into an angry red, PAINFUL rash. A quick teleheath visit and sure enough. f***ing shingles.

Yep it is making feel awful and rather cranky. But doc has me started on meds. Here's hoping for no permanent nerve damage.
