My 99 XJ has had a heater issue the last 2yrs, to the point of defrost was luke warm.
Last year I did a quick flush on the heater core to no avail.
This time I bought a heater hose adapter for a garden hose and some prestone cleaner.
Disconnected hoses last night, blew em out and poured some cleaner in.
Let it sit overnight. This morning I flushed and reverse flushed about 20x. Each time I would get a quick faint second of dirty water.
Finally both ways were clean.
Also replaced the upper heater hose and spliced it, so I could reverse the hoses.
Took it for a drive and YES!!!!
I got my heat back. Roasting now.

We made a few improvements to our utility sink, in the room behind the wood shop. When we installed it before building the teardrop (to use for cleaning, especially when painting), we tried gluing the legs down, as we didn't want to drill holes in the concrete floor. The glue didn't hold up, and recently the only thing holding the sink in place was the drain, which is obviously not ideal.

But we still didn't want to drill holes in the floor. Luckily I have extensive experience playing with erector sets!

We had also originally plumbed it with both soft and hard cold water. (For those who may not know, hard water is not nearly as satisfying as hard cider, but both the plants and I prefer drinking it to soft water). After washing my hands a few times in the winter, we thought adding hot water would be a nice option! We didn't finish that yet, as we need a part to add to the fancy two input faucet that will even mix the two for us!

However, we did add back the hard water spigot

Only took two trips to the hardware store so far, so we've got another one coming!

We did leave some room on the left for the root beer spigot

Me? I got finally got my second-to-last book published as an audiobook.

https://www.audible.com/pd/Under-a-Cold-Moon-Audiobook/B0CPTFNN7R?source_code=GPAGBSH0508140001&ipRedirectOverride=true

And yeah, it's me stammering and stuttering. This five-and-a-half-hour book probably took me twenty hours to narrate and about a million hours to edit out my mouth noises and gasps. Without that, I'd sound like a kid sucking on a lollipop that just took a softball to the groin.

:frightened:

I (almost) think I'd rather trim aluminum with a dull bit.

Had a few drips that drove us crazy. So we told them we had to leave and work on our sink!

Today, I "found" this gathering dust and pigeon poop in a farm shed in the countryside.
Pros -
Newly built.
Already painted.
Purpose built for a teardrop - a bit narrow at 58 inches but doable.
About 104 inches long.
Wind down stabilisers installed.
4 inch drop axle and 14 or 15 inch tyres. (Didn't check which)
$1000 Australian. ($677 US)

Cons -
Newly built - no VIN plate or registration. I know a low volume trailer builder to ask tomorrow about the process these days.
Might be bit on the heavy side No brakes, so legally the finished product has to come in under 1650 pounds. Every ounce built into the frame counts.
I have no idea who welded it.

The owner is a wheeler dealer who buys things to flip and offered it to me as the only bloke he knows who likes building TD's.
I know how much he paid for it, and there is a bit of haggle room on the price.

Last night's batch of bio-char!
Image

Just learned how easy it is to make in the wood stove with my old camping soup pots! Wish I had learned this method a couple years back. This is an overnight run and hoping for a decent barrel full come spring. I'll be charging it in my compost pile.

I have a 1993 Chevy Silverado, full size bed pick up truck, I bought brand new in 93.
It faces West in the driveway and the summer heat is brutal to the dash.
Image
I use to open the slider but it would leak in the winter so I sealed it off, I thought.
We had a big rain storm recently and it leaked pretty bad.
I've been putting Dri-Z Air in it for years to absorb the excess moisture.

Recently I had that window replaced after rigging up a lift system to remove the Leer canopy/shell.

Yesterday I did some repair with super glue to stabilize the old dash.
Image
I then installed Made In USA Dashskin that fits like a glove and the color is spot on.
Image
It was about $120 plus a reasonable shipping fee.

That looks like it turned out nice.

Was the installation much effort?

The instructions say about an hour to install.
It requires several bags of weights 5-10 pounds while the supplied silicone cures for 12 hours.
I had the truck in my heated shop so it was warmer than the minimum 40 deg. requirement.
I used old pellet stove bags and measured 5lbs of wood pellets per bag to put on the dash, which used 9 bags.
The hardest thing for me was getting my head up close to the dash because of the windshield.
I got some silicone on the dash while trying to place it on the damaged area.
A wet microfabric cloth and some elbow grease and it cleaned up nicely.
I priced a new dash at LMC truck and this was way cheaper and did the trick, I'm a very happy camper.
I'll never get rid of this truck, it looks new with a new total paint job a few years ago, LED lights, new all chrome grill, etc.

It's Christmas Eve here, about 11 am. The summer solstice was on Friday, now the days will grow progressively shorter, but still 2 months of summer left to enjoy.
Forecast for Christmas Day is for a beautiful 23C/73F.
Perfect.
Spending the day preparing. There's potato salad, cheesecake and fudge to be made, corned beef to be cooked, last minute floor sweeping, etc.
My contact up in the desert country dropped off some camel back strap on Thursday, so I've cut it into medallions and packed it for the freezer this morning.
I reserved about a pound and half of diced meat from the small end of the strap - I see an experimental green chili dish on the winter horizon.
Beautiful meat.
