Your favorite part about camping?

Being away from the city. The more desolate the better. Fewer connections or connectivity, the better. Fewer people, the better. I crave the silence, trees, water. I was raised half in the city, half on a mountain. I hated going back to the city. I wanted to stay and live on the family ranch. I like climbing, hiking, swimming. Riding horses was so fun. Helping my dad's cousins herd the cattle. The beautiful cliffs. Seeing the wild goats on the cliffs. My dad told me his grandfather told him about trading with the Natives. Watching the Natives on the cliffs regurgitate their food during the winter and then eating it again so they wouldn't starve.
For me, its about disconnecting and getting back to nature. Spending time with my family that doesn't include a T.V. or phone. (If it were up to me, we wouldn't have a T.V. LOL)It brings back a lot of memories. Whether I'm on a man-made trail or making my own trail (don't do this, you might get lost. I know it may just happen to me one day.) Sleeping under the stars. Whether its the travel trailer or a tent. For me, Its a lot.
We are currently looking for a secluded piece of land to just camp on. A bit hard to find lately. I can't stand it when I am at a campground and someone turns on all their lanterns, lights, outdoor TVs (ugh), radios. So rude!

I like just getting away, by myself usually. I love the scenery in the Eastern Sierra where I always go. I love the high country, the canyons and the lakes. I love to fish and I have many lakes and streams to choose from over there on the wild side of California.
I like hanging around the campground late in the day, riding my bike around the campground and talking with folks. I love drinking beer at camp and taking lots of time to fix dinner for myself from scratch. I especially like grilling at camp. I love campfires, always have. Sitting around a campfire sipping on a tasty drink and sometimes a cigar too is especially enjoyable as I watch the shadows move up the canyon walls and it gets so very dark and a million stars come out that I can't see at home.

Yep. The campfire and good talk. Only my drink of choice is Real Dr Pepper, the kind made with cane sugar instead of corn syrup.

I love quiet. Camping can give me that. The ideal camping place has sites FAR apart and doesn’t have a lot of noise. If friends are also camping (a group get together) we can meet at a common fire and enjoy the friendships, then go back to the ‘quiet place’.
