How many of you have dust masks in your garage from you last build or the one you are planning?
I found three packs which will go to the local medical community.

Put them to a much better use.
Find them and share.
Doctors office
Hospitals
Law enforcement
and yes maybe your veterinarian.

These masks have pore size that are too big to prevent the coronavirus from passing thru. Like putting a toy helmet on your head, your level of protection is highly limited and most likely will fail.

Even n90/n95/p100 masks (google them) have too big a pore size. These masks can filter out pollen, smoke particles, and some chemicals due to the various layers of filtering.

The only possible barrier is to catch droplets of a cough so you do not spread as much virus around. Thus provide a source for one to re-inhale. It may or may not even provide this level of protection.

The only real barrier is a full face respirator with external air supply.

You see people wearing them. They are only making them feel good. Within asian societies, people often wear them to (a) show solidarity with those who are suffering and (b) at one time to indicate that they supported modern medical practices. Both are nice social statements but will not protect you.

So, wash hands and stay away from others.

CDC is allowing scarves and bandanas. Our dust masks are at least as effective.

I suspect not. Business, and personal donations to help them in their "hour of need" will be forgotten when it comes to the exorbitant charges that will be levied against our insurance coverage and pocketbooks.

It's just business, after all.

They will.
HF doesn't mess around, when it comes to sponsorships, donations, charity work, etc. If they say they will, they do it.

In this case, the 'burden' so to speak is upon the hospitals and clinics to request the supplies, however.

Our hospital system is explicitly saying do not bring us this stuff, because they can’t use it if it doesn’t come from a supplier with the right certifications. Whether direct from HFT satisfies that or not, I can’t say.

This is probably from their liability lawyers. Somebody gets sick from "non certified" equipment, and it's the facility's backside that's on the line.

Just to clarify my previous; I'm not saying the act of generosity isn't a commendable thing. I'm saying the medical community won't reciprocate, even though they've been gouging our insurance coverage for decades, and very well should have been able to stock themselves quite generously.
