2nd Build - inspired by a Tourette

I've been getting the itch to build another TD. Had an inspiration in my head for a while, even while I was building my first TD. Minimal and light with a vintage flair was the general idea brewing in my head. I pulled into a gas staion on the way home from a weekend camping trip with the Mrs and our TD. Another couple from Alabama just happened to be fueling up as well, and were pulling a very original 1947 Tourette. The gentleman had an interesting story of how he acquired the camper. We chatted about our campers for quite a while by the gas pumps. I really like that Tourette and it's vintage aircraft-like construction, and its motivated me to do a build along those lines. I think my daughter would like it, and she's been bugging me to build a TD for her.

I've been busy with other projects that have kept me from starting. I've been restoring a 1967 Triumph TR6R that followed me home 2 years ago. Its nearly completed, and I just might have time to start the new TD.

It may be a while, but I'm tossing around ideas and plans in my head, and searching the forum for anything that might help in the meantime. I'm considering an 8' long cabin, with the wheels tucked, a light tube steel frame, plywood floor, aluminum skin over aluminum angle frame for the cabin dressed up with thin birch plywood, minimal cabinetry, and a goal of less than 700 lbs. For the frame, I've been thinking about adapting a Holsclaw motorcycle trailer as a starting point. It has coil springs, a panhard bar, and shocks. Its a simple, light, durable setup that tows and rides very nicely. Holsclaw made a bunch of boat trailers as well with a similar setup.

So, you might say you have a bit of "Tourette's Syndrome"? Are you having some uncontrollable outbursts of camper building?
