Tesla pick-up camper

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

When i saw Tesla's truck prototype my first reaction was man that is ugly.

However, when I saw the "new" 2013 Ford Escape I thought the same thing. Then most of the small SUVs modeled similar designs. Who knows which Mfr started that ugly trend.

Now I own one of them (Escape) and don't think twice about the look. Even my design preferences change. But God is that Tesla ugly!

I do kinda like the Bronco (old and new versions)

A hybrid might be great for the camping we do. For towing we have that electric booster motor that helps get the outfit moving and the gas engine for range. And the big plus for boondockers is the huge battery already in the vehicle. Run what you like and when the battery gets low the gas engine fires automatically to recharge.

$80m in camper pre-orders. Wow.

I think they missed a big opportunity with that camper so widen it slightly above the bed. I don't think it will hurt aerodynamics much to allow it a few inches over elevation, or even keeping it flat with the high point of the roof. I know this is pessimistic, but with all the bells and whistles on that camper, I think they will be forever requiring repair. I wouldn't touch the first generation of these with a 10ft pole.

No disagreement Tom but 1600 buyers can't wait.

500 miles and 15minute recharging. Maybe they won't quite delivering this, but getting closer to electrics that can compete with ICEs .
