saw this picture on another website.is that not the solenoid you use to unlock your door from the key fob the other one is a $15 12V lock. Would use on Hach.
Even better use linear actuators on a remote. No need for a latch they are strong enough to keep it closed. Its what I did on my rear entrance hatch/awning. then you dont need gas struts either
The second picture. Those selenoids are normaly used for door locks. These are low power solenoids. The pull in power is weak. So if a latch binds it can blow the solenoid. If you throw power for more than 15 to 20 seconds. It will blow the solenoid.
The top picture is a better solenoid. About the same as the second solenoid as far as pull in and durability.
Look up bear claw latches. That company makes some good quality latches in different styles. There are kits with remote key fob control also.
