Leader of the Mordor trips has moved on.....

Postby Wolfgang92025 » Tue Oct 19, 2021 8:07 pm

Got some sad news today.

Wolffarmer (Randy P) lost the battle with cancer today.
We just lost a good camping buddy.
I'm having a cold one in his honor.

Save travels my friend................

To Randy, a most interesting fellow! You leave a mighty big hole my friend.
After "talking" with you over several years on teardrop boards we eventually got to meet in person at Burning Man.
Then we enjoyed several winter camps together, sometimes just you and me. I loved spending those times with you.
You put together Mordor and the 150th anniversary of Golden Spike. Great times!
Sharing the full eclipse of the sun was one of the most moving events of my life.
You introduced me to music I never knew existed thanks to your years at a certain party town college radio station.
I will miss our many forays into philosophical darkness around frozen campfires.
I will miss your friendly smile and your great sense of humor.
Most of all I will miss You.

May you find clear streams, plentiful space, and beautiful scenery at the great campground in the sky.

So true George, stopped by to visit Randy on the way home from the fall trip to Mordor in mid September.
I had hoped to see him again in spring, but it was not to be. :(

Thought I would add some pictures of Randy from past campouts that we shared.

First time I meet Randy in person was at the Petroglyphs Campout in 2010.
Randy trailer is in the background and the conversation was about building a trailer with I think Desert Mouse ?

Funny thing is, during last visit with Randy we talked about a doctors appointment hehad in a few days. His sister had bought some hair and nail color for Randy to wear to the appointment. Can't remember if it was that shade of blue or a bright green. He keep his sense of humor thru it all.

Well this is sad news. It just reinforces the fact that time on this earth is short. Don't waste it, and enjoy the people and friendships you make along the way.

Wolfgang, yes that was me (DesertMOOSE) picking Randy's brain for ideas on how to build my tear. I had the pleasure of camping with him several times. He will be missed.
