If just pulling a few . look at Chesapeake Light Craft .look at the buck that used to hold everything together .If you use 3/8 hardboard and plasticine clay you would have a smooth outside surface do a shell then add foam then glass over .look at the trail top build . That a shell with right foam glue in. then glass a few layers over foam on inside

Yep, that is one way I was thinking of doing it.

if you use some like the buck not the trailer .trailer pod made from wood seems like an awful high price to pay especially with those doors and windows. by doing that with hardboard you've actually made of a mold

It would be easy to draw up plans, no real lofting required.

(Still like the boat tail with the matching bumper.)

Here is a post on how he worked with a foam strong back and forms, and then covered them in strips. You can click the Newer Posts at the bottom of the page to see how this project progressed.

https://thetinkersworkshop.blogspot.com ... oject.html there's a way to make a buck for that probably take about a week in about 3 hr a day $ about 150 I sure like to see somebody get fiberglass trailer business going with reasonable prices. do the outer ring in plaster of Paris and then do an infill. doing the plaster like they used to do it in the old houses . When are we doing Trailtops trailers that's how we get a new profile for the outside ring

Lots of good ideas there. You could try out the techniques on something small first like a set of fenders or tongue box.

If I used 1/8" hardboard ($15 per sheet) for the smooth flat surfaces and only used foam for the rounded corners ($30 per 1"x4'x8' sheet), all supported by a flake board structure underneath, it would only require 17 sheets; around $500 for foam. Another four sheets of hardboard would cost $60. If I cut out the rounded corners on my CNC mill I could use maybe a third less sheets of foam.

This is for half-form only.

Here is a simple sketch. The angled sides look better but make the rounded corners more complicated.

You need to do a hell of a lot more research they're made from polyester and chopper guns.

He only needs to make a mold if he's going to do multiple pieces. Sounds like this is a one-off so that's a lot of wasted time and money. It's not rocket science. Kids do this for science projects. I'm sure he can figure it out.

But you are quoting yourself, are you not?
I reckon it was one of your posts that said "if pulling a few."

Osb for the floor seems to be a sketchy choice. Otherwise entertaining.
