That is the prototype Gidget Retro Teardrop Camper, made in Brisbane Australia.
A Rolls Royce quality camper. Unfortunately, there must not have been enough campers in Australia with Rolls Royce budgets, because in January 2018 they went into Voluntary Administration. I suspect that is a bit like Chapter 11.
You form the view your business can't meet its debts and obligations as and when they fall due, and voluntarily appoint administrators to manage the business.
Once you've done that, the business has certain protections and a bit of breathing space to reorganise. Most still go under, just in a more controlled and orderly fashion.
I don't think Gidget came out of Administration as an operating business still making campers.
They sure bring good money on the secondhand market. Asking prices well north of $20,000, some ask more than $30,000.
They made them for about 5 1/2 years,

Always! But I'm building our Rocky Mountain dream home now. So the next camper will have to wait a little longer. I just ran across that picture and was curious about it.

Here are a couple of recent house pictures.

Further info: They made at least three shipments to North America. 3 trailers in a container was the third shipment. Might be at least 9 of these things floating around North America.

That's cool.

I've been playing with expandable systems in my head, but always come back to the water intrusion issues.
Maybe I'll think about it if I build a 2nd camper.
I'll be done when I'm finished, if that's not fast enough, take a number.
