I agree wholeheartedly. When you think about it many of us have it very easy here in the good ol US of A. There are exceptions of course. My privilege doesn't blind me to how much many Americans suffer with higher costs.

I do respect what the Ukrainians have been able to accomplish. I don't know what the answer is to dealing with the Thugs and Murderers, but, they will never go away. We can make things uncomfortable for them but the next generation will present the world with another crop of them to deal with.

Its a global problem. @ $4 a gallon, I am getting 20mpg towing at 65MPH (Subaru Outback) that's 20 cents a mile. I baked it into the trip finances.
The big rigs that need heavy power to tow were not as visible in campgrounds this week. Much less Class A units on the road where I am. Am seeing Class B and C rigs they are often - 10 - 12mpg (40 cents a mile).

I am not seeing the Class A, B and C rental units I usually see on the road. 100% of the rigs at Assategue were owner operated.

Trailers were the #1 rigs where I am camping. All shapes and sizes at Assategue National campground. To state the obvious, once you unhook fuel mileage soars!

I agree people are adapting and exploring closer to home. I am at about 1000 miles on this trip and have spent about $200 on fuel. I figure that is equal to 2 nights in a motel (not including dinners). The rig is an excellent investment (for me).

Happy Camping

We just need to keep things in perspective.

Right! It's still better than taking a cruise, especially on this line!

I really wanted to go camping but... it's Easter weekend and im staying away from crowds. Technically it's still winter here so I fired up the wood stove and camped in the backyard.
Saved about $100 in gas .

Great news. Diesel here was $1.90/L yesterday, compared to $2.21 a couple weeks ago.
$5.31 US per US gallon, down from about $6.18 US a couple weeks ago.

You'll love this one Slow. Filled up last night at $2.33 Australian per litre.
That would be $6.10 US per US gallon.

To tell the truth, I don't let it cramp my style too much.
I usually camp within 70 miles of home, and my little turbo charged diesel runs at least 20 miles per US gallon towing the TD.
So, you know, might take pork steaks to cook over the camp fire instead of beef, and maybe cask wine instead of a bottle.
When its all said and done, these little campers are true to the original design aspirations - minimal horsepower requirement, light, compact, economical to operate.
The spiraling fuel cost rankles, but I'm still upright and breathing and able to enjoy the bush.
