Slow Cookers & Crock Pots

Postby Dahlia47 » Thu Feb 23, 2023 11:33 pm

We are looking to take a 5 day trip. I would like to have some home cooked meals. I really cant eat food with a lot of preservatives. I get pretty sick.
So I am looking for low watt slow cookers or crock pots. What ever you want to call them. Lol
I have my dr prepare 200 watt. I use it with my alpicool. The alpicool hardly uses any power. Im thinking i may have enough power to add a low watt cooker/pot.
Any suggestions??

Also, the little TT got a new panel. One of the originals that wasnt sealed. Im ok with it. Gives me something to do. Better than watching the idiot box. It will get a new counter top and a whole new paint job!! Cant wait to share the pics!!

Well, the original slow cooker was a dutch oven. No power draw what do ever.

A little late replying, but if you are still looking, head to a decent sized truck stop (or online) for Road Pro 12v cookers. I have a crockpot and a stove. The stove runs at a constant 350F or water can be added for a cooler environment. Food is hot in about a half hour or so. I plug it in to the car while driving and really like having hot food all ready when I arrive at a campsite. I use an aluminum bread pan or foil, or silicon inserts, so I don't have to wash it. You have to be real careful of the latch or it comes apart. My brother dropped his and it stopped working, but otherwise it has been trouble free. I pull the plug when I start smelling the food so it doesn't scorch. I use the crockpot when I'm driving all day as it takes that long. I broke the rubber band that holds on the lid fairly quickly, it is hard to find an elastic band that can withstand heat.

The manufacturer's website has lots of info but is not necessarily the least expensive price.

Wow, that's worth checking out. Thanks Alice. Looks like it's between $40 and $45 at a variety of stores including Wally World and Home Depot.
