Medical Flights Landing on Highway in Western Australia

This news item might be of interest to some members here.
A medical flight being forced to land in a major highway as the local airstrip is unusable due to rain.
I have travelled this highway many times and have seen the road markings where the planes land in designated sections.
The majority of patients are people involved in road accidents.

A small bit of information regarding the Eyre Highway.
It is 1670 kilometres long (1040 miles) stretching from Norseman in West Aussie to Port Augusta in South Australia.
It stretches for 1,128 Kms (700 miles) from Norseman to Penong SA being the next town.
There are 8 fuel stations along that distance.
