Teardrop Mural/Painting

Postby beverlyt » Sat Aug 28, 2004 8:54 pm

Hello all,
We know someone who does beautiful artwork and often on automobiles.

It looks like we are going to go ahead with the idea of having a mural painted on our teardrop. Bob and I both decided we wanted a lone Buck.

We are leaning towards something very close to this:

The other thought is a painting of a buck's reflection in a stream, something like this:

The vote at my house is for the first one. We're thinking of having faint mountains (the Smoky Mountains) in the background.

I think the best area on the tear would be the hatch, don't you think?

Ever see Grumpy Old Men? The movie. I was thinking of naming mine "Catfish Hunter" from the movie. (Sorry, vaguely similar thing here, just popped in my head) :)

I like number 1 also...

Can the mural be painted on the white PVC, or do you have to put some white aluminum on the sides?

Mike...

Mike,
The guy can paint on just about anything. You should see the last thing I saw him paint...man, I wish I had a picture.

He was over at my neighbors a couple of months back. Neighbors friend had brought over this HUGE Grizzly bear that sits outside at someone's pond in the area. I mean this thing was HUGE! They had to bring it over on a rather large flatbed trailer.

The bear was made out of some sort of resin or something. It even has a fake tongue and huge teeth!!!

Anyway, he painted that bear so realistic....it was pretty cool to see!

Bev,
# 1 & the Hatch also, Always have loved the mountains & Deer. But normally these murals are quite expensive, is this person in our price range? :(

Frank,
Along with a "barter" type system, I'm hoping in the $150.00 range.

(He's VERY good friends with our neighbor..I think he normally would ask much more)

He gonna paint it on the side, both sides, the front or the back or all over? #1 looks good to me also. Especially with the mountains in the back, sorta misty looking...

Thought of the same scene but with the moon over the mountains?

Hello Eric,
No, it would only be painted in one area (the hatch area most likely)...and I'm not even sure of what size he would do for a reasonable price yet.

It would be more than I could afford to have it painted in several places on the tear.

As Frank mentioned earlier, these paint jobs don't come cheap.

I think it would look awesome on the hatch. I would love to follow you down the highway. And my vote is for #1 too.

Totally cool! It would be great on the hatch. I agree with Catrinka, following you would be much nicer than staring at the back of a Freightliner.

How about a government grant for providing public art?
The tiny trailer in the avatar is designed to carry our recumbents and sometimes sleep in. We LOVE having a kitchen in the woods and a place for most of our gear.

We've got the hatch off the trailer, putting a new hinge on.
Dog gone it, this one had better work!!

Figure since the hatch is completely off, we'll just walk it over to the neighbors.

Mural goes on tomorrow!!
