Flooring question???

Postby catrinka » Sun Aug 29, 2004 9:54 am

After doing the break down of costs on the low cost teardrop, I'm wondering if it is necessary to use plywood for the floor of the teardrop or could particle board or the underlayment board be used. There is quite a difference in cost. I can get 3/4" particle board for 18.87 while 3/4" birch plywood is 39.99. Still trying to figure out why 1/2" birch plywood is 49.99.

Now that I have a basic list of parts I'm trying to figure out what my 'bigger' teardrop will cost.

Cathy,
If, when, (and it will) particle board gets wet it turns into mush!
Would not use it except for mock-ups, it has very little structial strenght also.

Assuming I haven't missed too much, my larger teardrop should come in around the $3000 mark. Still a lot cheaper than anything I can buy out there, and it will be our own design.
