Outside Skins on

Postby jlrelp » Tue Aug 31, 2004 11:22 am

Will after a hard weekend of working got the outside skins put on.

The outside skin is 1/8 in. Meranti plywood. Then I applied one coat of epoxy to seal the wood. Next will apply 3 to 4 coats of a good spar varnish for the UV protection...

That's an interesting idea to use a thin, good ply as a cosmetic 'skin' - just like aluminum sheet.

Andrew

PS. Look up the front of your trailer near the hitch - that's usually where the anchor is fitted....

Hey John,

Your teardrop is looking good... The photos are a little blurry, like you have your camera set to "close-up" instead of "distant", but from what I can see, it's looking nice!

Sorry about the photos Think it is the low light

the camera does not have a flash in the light takes great photos.

now just a lot of sanding, and do the varnish

this is the way I have been builting my kayak's and row boats

using epoxy and the spar varnish.

have a good day and no worries

Yea, low light will do that too. Darn. I was hoping it was just a simple focus setting that you could change and out would pop all these crystal clear photos. Oh well, bring on the sunlight!!!

As for the switch, you were talking about this one for 41.99, right?

Very nice job John. You're making great progress. I wish i had seen a neat power panel like yours, I wouldn't have made one  The picture album was nice too. It really shows the feel of the project! Very nice!

Nice trailer John! I've really been watching yours as it's been coming along.

Love the doors! I really like teardrop shaped doors. (or whatever one calls that shape)

The wood sides look great too! I really like the wood teardrops, they are SOOOOOO NEAT!!

A new camera is a very worthwhile tool! Get one with a flash!

Yes, I did the plans, or I should say I am still developing the plans... See my a/c second attempt thread. :D
