General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

Hello all! I'm PUPTENT, your newest member. The name comes from 32 years of married tentcamping and the desire for things small. We bought a Class B Pleasure-Way motorhome (about as small as you can go and be fully contained) in November of 2002 and love it, but at that time I was emailing Cary Winch at Camp-Inn trailers in Wisconsin almost daily, gathering information. I love his product, to say the least, and saw one in Modesto, California last spring. Now, I find out that Rik Keller (of Road Toad fame) works with my youngest son in Sacramento, California - my connection to the teardrop fraternity grows. As a teenager my parents had a 1955 Benroy that left when a divorce took place. I thought teardrops were out of my life and they were for 45 years - but here we go again. This is a wonderful forum, similar to the Airstream forum, and I will be lurking here all the time, probably not posting too often. Is there a teardrop in our future? Probably not, but hold that thought . . . .
Best wishes to all of you. Enjoy!

puptent,,,,,"WARNING" lurking, lingering, on this web log can be hazardous to your wallet,,,symptoms to look for and avoid are,,sketching teardrop profiles,,looking at trailers for sale,,wandering the isles of Lowes aimlessley thinking that would work in a tear,,picking out colors,, asking questions,,under no circumstances should you ever purchase any material that can or would be used on a teardrop,,,If you have any of these symtoms you are already infected and there is no hope or known cure,,,dont fight it,,just give in and try to live your life to the fullest if now in a small (teardrop) way,,

welcome to the inflicted!!!!!!!

Barry!

Welcome aboard. Nice to see you found this place. I think you will like it here even if it is dangerous as Chip so well described.

Thanks all for the welcoming. I have no symptoms yet, except a genuine interest in teardrops. What seperates myself from the rest of you is that I haven't spent one dime on a teardrop yet - did I say yet?

Chip's right. I was thinking that when the storm hit I'd get enough plywood to do my windows and use that afterwards to build my next tear.
I did that. Got 4 sheets. One for the floor and 1 for each side. 1 left over if needed.

My friend came by yester with some 1/2sheets of plywood and 1 more full sheet. Now all I have to do is get 1 more full sheet after the storm and I can build not just 1 but 2 tears.

This is growing. Wonder if that is a TTA like AA.

1/2" plywood. Are you going to build a 1/2" Weekender to test the concept with 1/2" plywood for me?

If I were to do that I'd have to build it out of 4x8. Cutting the sides the angle you have won't leave very much sleeping length.

Tell you want you cut the trailer down to 4x8 not 4 or 5 by 9 and I'll use the plans to build a weekender. Using 1/2 plywood. All the way around.

Oh, you mean something like this....

Build using the light blue lines, not the black lines...

No,

I mean something that looks just like the weekender with the angles cut in at the bottoms. It's just 7 ft at the bottom not 8 ft.

Really Mike just shorten the weekender. Take out a ft or so in the center.

The point in the back and the point in the ft would be 96" long.

If you have a 7' long trailer, that would mean the entire floor would be sleeping area. No front blanket chest. No rear a/c on the floor. Is that what you had in mind?

Yep. Something like that. Just use the same design layout only make so that you use a 4x8 sheet not 4x9

Let me see what you got.
