Norm Abram teardrop?

Postby mikeschn » Fri Sep 03, 2004 10:50 am

Okay, now you guys got me wondering. Besides $300 in biscuits, what other features would make a Norm Abram teardrop?

Everything would have to be Shaker style, right?

It'd have to have porter cable and other woodworking equipment manufacturers labels on it. It'd have to be old-style like you said. I think it'd look alot like that all-wood one I see pics of now and again on here. :D

Shaker style? Um, don't know about that. He's done steamer lounge chaises and a Queen Anne table this year. The last episode I saw he built a replica of an Aussie sheep-shearing table.

I think to get him to do one would involve either making a copy of an antique (and furniture guys' definition of antique means it has to be at least 100 years old) ... or building one using salvaged antique timber.

Now if we could just get one of those teardrops you see on Ebay that "need a little TLC" on Overhaulin' ...

Nope, None of the above!
Norm can take his biscuit... well maybe, some cabinet work.
I say, Go for the Gusto!
On American Teardrop Build Off Challenge, hosted by the Discovery Channel.
Teams would compete for the Porter-Cable Tool Package.
Each team would be given a budget and a set amount of time to design, build and demonstrate their creation. Mike will be the Judge. (The one with the Bull-Horn)
Maybe Cary & Grant could do some Freebies!(echo-echo-nothin-nadda)

www.pbs.org. New Yankee Workshop contact info ought to be there, but I think they've already picked out next season's projects.

on the other hand ... there's hgtv, the learning channel, and perhaps the most likely place to actually do one of these contests, the DIY channel' s contest show "Warehouse Warriors."

I'd be absolutely bowled over to see Norm build one, though.
