Anybody have any clever ideas for modifying the fantastic fan cover? I want to put a roof tent on top that doesn't have enough clearance for the tipped up cover. So if I modded it to slide or come off in another way, that might work...

I would think with a tent over it you could remove the cover while stationary...

Sure, but.... Is it that simple? I assumed I'd have to mod or remove the hinge and devise another way to secure it underway so it didn't become road debris.

Mark removing the covers are actually pretty ease usually you have to open it some and bend the tabs on the ends open and the on the inside you need to take the screen off inside and unhook the opening lever. the lid will slide off at that point. I have changed out the one on my pop up when my better half shoved my kayak over too hard and cracked the one on the pop up.

What about mounting it sideways

What would be awesome is being able to remove it from the a couple feet away/edge of the tear roof - with a rod, maybe. The roof tent sits about 6" above the roof surface on a rack and has a rigid floor, so reaching in to fiddle with the vent cover is probably going to be annoying.

I think since I need low clearance and my trailer is a small 4x4x8 and I have lots of windows and I live in a dry and mostly moderate temperature and low humidity place (Colorado) I am going to use the little round Van-air fan instead of the much-lauded Fantastic, despite the obviously lower CFM the Van-air moves...

The little round Van-Air might not move as much air but when I have mine on, and I forget to open the windows, my ears pop. When I have the windows open, and it is on, I can feel the air flowing into the camper through the windows.
