My "side tent" tarp (A work in process)

So far I have about $60 invested in this and I think I am going to like it. I bought some awning rail from a sailmaker supply co. and mounted it on the edges of my roof. Then an 8' by10' plastic tarp was acquired from Benny's and some 5/16 nylon braided line. Also from Benny's 2 telescoping paint roller handles and their cheapest paint roller frames. I wrapped one of the 8' sides around the line and glued it in place. That took a little doing and I am not confident of the glue job. Seems nothing sticks to that plastic! Anyway, here are some shots of it as it stands in my driveway. I think I need a few stakes and a bigger area to set it up in but you get the idea. I also think that if I moved the poles in to the middle of the long edge and thru a grommet then tied it down I could make a very small changing room. I'll play around with that this afternoon!

Comments and suggestions always welcome, and can anyone recomment a clue that will stick to that plastic tarp material?

After the first little bit of rain you're going to have a saggy puddle in the middle. Even if you used real tarp materi it would likely break. A center pole should help a lot

Griff clips work or get a grommet setter. Any sort of tape or glue won't work well.

Using cheap tarps or plastic sheeting to mock up a tarp works fine. Long term you'll be happier with a proper tarp made from some sort of rip stop nylon like you'll find in tents.

Looks pretty cool. Maybe leaving a bit of fabric to hang down at the far end so rain doesn't roll back underneath? I think I'll use something like this for mine (to be!). Thanks for sharing.

I plan on doing something similar on mine over my galley door. This will create a little covered eating area for the family. I second the idea of a good quality tarp and grommets as opposed to glue, but I like where you are going.
