HELP! Winter leak

Postby pjo129 » Tue May 06, 2014 10:31 pm

I started getting the camper ready for our Spring Gathering in two weeks. As I just put it together last year, I kept an eye on it over the winter. Apparently I didn't check it well enough. This is what I found when I looked under the matress.

:o  :x :x :x

I opened it up to dry it out in the nice weather.

Expert builders, I need your help. What can I do?

It's only a box that hasn't got a finished interior so I would just bite the bullet and start over. Mark it up as a lesson earned. :(

Pete,

You have a great opportunity to learn, and help others here by determining where and why it leaked.

It is obvious something was missed.
Starting over may well be the best long term plan, but either way, if you don't figure out where it leaked and why, it will likely happen again...

I'd start with a hose or sprinkler and try to trace it back.

Soooo...

I did some investigating and found the following:
It looks like the leak is coming from the corner of the liftgate on the truck cap.

After much deliberating last night, I have decided to cleanup the floor as best I can, shore up the liftgate seal and continue for the rest of this year. This trailer was started as a temporary/make-do camper anyways. It only needs to get us through 3-5 camping trips this year. The under carriage is still in prime shape (see my build thread for construction details)

The Mrs. has been pressuring me to get going on the big foamie for a while now. :)
