Skinning with FRP

Has anyone tried to skin a trailer with frp affixed directly to framing? (No plywood or solid sheet besides FRP, just insulation)

I used FRP on the roof of my trailer attached directly to the spars with the recommended adhesive. I have foam insulation between the spars and used stainless steel screws and finish washers on the perimeter. The FRP also makes up the roof of the galley hatch as well and it seems to be holding up well.

When I dismantled my palamino colt popup, I found that the outside of the trailer was aluminum glued directly on the frame and insulation. The inside was 1/8 ply paneling gluded to the frame. I plan to use 1/8 ply on outside and frp/filon on the inside with a 3/4 inch thick frame and insulation between them. I will use contact glue and fasterns to secure them.

Me too ( kinda) FRP roof inside then 1 1/2 of foam between the spars then an outer later of FRP Made a nice light 525 pound 4' x not quite 8' and has held up very well.







The chuck wagon is also FRP only roof without insulation or inner skin. The only only concession is I went 12" o/c rather than 16" o/c.







THe nice part it is all but puncture proof , definatly hail proof and it doesn't require polishing.

Yes. Check out my personal album. Polyurethane glue FRP to the wood spars. I camped in it for 2 years before finishing the interior. If I had done a nicer job on the spars,
I would have left it that way - the sun lit up the interior very nicely.
