Cutting down the side wall is a piece of cake, and the most it could cost is another half sheet of Ply. for a new door. Then you can go with a standard 4 inch mattress and everything will be just fine. (if you cut it down to 2")
Don't worry about getting up to pee in the middle of the night, just think of how many times you will be in and out of the camper even before your first trip out of the Garage. Then think of everytime you want to just sit in the doorway and watch the World go by....
