Thanks Rob and Peg. Appreciate the kind words from everyone.

Peg, my wife and I thought the cutout added a little something to the cabinets, without going too far overboard.

Love those cabinets.

Earl -- your "Texas Map" in the sig -- is that something you did?

OKJewel -- get a little piece (I think they come 6'' square) of "craft wood" at (balsa or very thin basswood) at Wal-mart or Michael's and print yourself an outline (or, heck, a satellite photo from Google Maps!) of your state just a little smaller, and use a little Elmer's glue to attach it to (the back side of if not using a photo) the wood. Cut out with an X-Acto, clearcut with a little MinWax Poly, and presto! Custom cut out.

(Want killer cabinet pulls like nobody else will have? Make 'em on 3/4-inch-thick chips cut off the end of a scrap 2''x2'' and sanded smooth. You can flush-mount or you can use a 1/2'' extender block or dowel on the back. If you're really good you can screw the pull onto the block/dowel with a countersunk screw and plug the end like Roly Nelson's trim.)

Thanks for the compliments everyone, it makes a guy feel good about his work.

Laredo, the Texas in the sig, is a graphic my wife had come up with, not sure if she made it, bought it, or just downloaded it. If you want, you can download it from my album.

Good tips on the cut outs and pull. With the internet at your disposal, and a sharpe blade, be it hand held or scroll saw, you can make about anything to add little details.
