Rot Doctor's clear sealant and camping

Postby kirtsjc » Fri Jul 28, 2006 7:53 pm

I am anxious to camp in my "Uglyender". However, it is still raw wood exterior!

In reading Rot Doctor's web pages, I get the impression that I can at least seal the raw wood with the clear sealant for now, so I can get some camping in...

Then as summer winds down, I can fill the bad spots, and when cooler less humid weather arrives, get down to the dirty nasty task of painting with epoxy....

Good move, bad move, neutral?

(There goes my goatee, have to shave it off to wear a respirator! :x )

Thanks!

I have been spending some time with them!
Good people to work with!
Yes put about 2 to 3 coats on. You will have to use an epoxy filler and epoxy pant after but most epoxies will stick to CEPS it will work just like a primer!

We went on a 7 day trip to Colorado when the teardrop only had epoxy sealer on the outside. It rained 5 of the 7 days.
No damage to the wood.

Chuck, mbader & Mike:

Thanks, just wanted to make sure my impression and what I have read here was correct!

Would hate not only to have water damage, but also hate to see layers of ChiPly peeling off at this stage... :?

Thanks again All!

Clear epoxy doesn't block UV so try to keep your tear covered when it's not in use, both for the cps's sake and so the UV doesn't degrade your plywood.
Commandant Louis Joseph Lahure has a singular distinction in military history - he defeated a navy on horseback. Occupying Holland in January 1795, the French continental army learned that the mighty Dutch navy had been frozen into the ice around Texel Island. So Lahure and 128 men simply rode up to it and demanded surrender. No shots were fired.

Melvin & Geezer-Crossing:

thanks for sharing your experiences. "Uglyender" sleeps in a fully enclosed garage for now, and will in the future.
