A woodie question.

Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

apratt,
It is a boat anttena flip up mount, it contains my AM/Fm Radio, weather radio and TV anntenas and it also serves as a flag pole in the up position. It is in the stowed position in the picture. At the gatherings when the pirate flag flys above my teardrops the Captain is in (Captain Morgan that is) The new one also has them also, the mounts are installed, the anntenas are yet to be installed. You can see one of them behind the porch lite assembly in the teardrop in the foreground( the little handle behind the lite)[/quote]

Thanks for the info, good idea!

I forgot to mention they are inside the CPVC pipe for protection. Most people don't notice it is what it is. They think it is a flag pole only

8) thanks folks for all the input.I will need to find a place where I can put the finish on without bugs and dead grass being blown on to the finish. Today I did my deck and sealed the bottom with tar and here comes the wind and blew tons of grass and dirt on it   Thank goodness it was just the bottom. I'm building under a tent shelter. Thanks again. Peg

Hi Peg,
I'm buidling my td with 1/4" birch for roof and 1/2" oak for the sides. Originally I was going to keep the sides a woodie and then use paint for the roof/top.

When I went for the birch it had some really cool grains running through it. Now I am staining the top also , then going to use Clear Shield to protect top/sides and have decided to paint my trim.

Have fun with this part..............but like I told my buddy Bill who's helping me, "I reserve the right to change my mind throughout the project"! I've evoked that rule several times already.

Key word - maintenance. My teardrop is stored outside and I'm not the best in the world when it comes to upkeep, which is why I opted for the high-dollar marine okume. If it's stored in a garage or if you're really good about keeping a good finish on your teardrop (or better yet, both), it shouldn't matter. After all, there are still a few of the old ones around which were made using Masonite, which deteriorates pretty quickly if not protected from the elements.
