Wood bleaching question

When they talk about bleaching wood, is that with regular bleach or is their a product for bleaching wood. I need to remove or at least lighten some water stains on some birch plywood. It happened from substandard storage conditions and an overabundance of rain.

...it is a specific product that should be available at the box stores or a well supplied hardware store...it is not a regular bleach

Yep... like he said. The stuff I use is basicly oxalic acid... comes in powder form you mix with water or already mixed for more money. In my experience, it only lightens most stains, doesn't remove them. Best of luck.

...thanks Brick, I was racking my po' ol' abused brain trying to remember the name of the acid in wood bleach...a couple of more thoughts...you will have to do the ENTIRE piece or you will have a bleached out section and not bleached...also OXYCLEAN....I had a very heavily coffee stained maple buther block counter top and I made a paste with oxclean and covered the whole piece with it...let it dry and everyday wet it back down and stirred the paste around after about 3 days the stain was completely gone...using anything, like has been mentioned here, be sure to test test test before using for real since your mileage may vary....
