After a couple of day of searching I have found the link to a test run by West Systems Epoxy. They were testing how epoxy adhered to various stains. Thought some of you might like to read it too. The pictures of the exact results didn't come up for me.

I unfortunately used Minwax stain before I remembered the test. I don't know how other products work with it or other oil based stains.
