Well MK now youve done it.... The Mrs came home with stainless bowls... Now What are they for I asked......

Mk,s influence Internationally I see...works... amongst the women folk...
ahhh well, now Im being told that the Mrs. would like a nice lil bowl for a sink as well since she see,s no reason why an expensive premade sink has to be purchased.... ok ... yes dear... so here she came home with cute lil stainless bowls - and of course made here in Finland..
at a cost of 12 and 8 euro... versus a sink that would cost 250 Euro...Now that is a savings she said... which I have to agree is too...there are 2 now in the house.. She said to choose 1 out of the 2 and the left over we can use in the kitchen...

I really like the 1st choice..myself...

I love the idea of that first one, with the flat bottom!! It makes me think of a ss dog food dish.... I'll do some looking.

I have an old large ss bowl out in the garage , so that would save even more $$ .

high.. unless I countersink it to lower it somewhat.. ???

You know as much as I love your counter top, I would sink it. That way you can make a wooden topper so you don't loose too much counter space.

I think if you have a router you could sink the sink... and do a cover like Auntie M said... how big is the bowl??

Check my build picture link, I took a lot of detail pictures when I installed my sink. Although I didn't sink the sink...tehehe..sink the sink...sorry.... You may get an idea from seeing them.

PS Mk what is the diameter of the one you have? Our drain systems are a bit different here.. I,ll take photo of the ones we have...

I would leave it with the lip up(not sink it) and here is why.

In order to counter sink the bowl you would have to make template for the bowl diameter(including the lip), then clamp the template to the counter over the the hole you have cut that is the diameter of the bowl plus the 1/2 width of the lip. Then with a pattern bit in your router rout out the wood for lip, doing this from underneath, then you must secure said bowl/sink to counter top. Any errors in using the router or cutting the hole will make alignment and/or looks bad or difficult.

The only good thing about doing this (if no mistakes) besides the neatness is that you can use the circle you cut out as a lid though it will need some minor modifications.

It is 10" outside lip to lip, but it was a 9 1/2" cut out. I did do a practice cut on scrap wood.
