Almost ready to skin the Hatch - Question

Okidoki the excitement is growing strong,,,, Us boys are getting ready to skin the hatch ... went and purchased some real nice Baltic Birch Exterior Marine Ply which is 1.5 millimeters in thickness and the exact length and width... so no need for cutting .. (precut ) I guess its called...

Is there a certain way we should proceed now except use caution...

Do we use small screws to hold the ply in place during the drying of the glue? or what do you folks recommend?

Also purchased Marine glue that we were told by the dealer will work very well for this purpose...moisture resistant as well...It sets fairly fast it states...
Just had to ask before we begin so we dont make any mistakes on this..

Hey there... your TD is lookin good... I set my hatch in the hole w/ the side/bottom/top spacers and I screwed it in place from the outside then I put my hatch skin on oversized...I figured this would help hold everything in place till the glue dried; then I used a flush trim router bit to clean 'er up after setting a day or two... To secure the skin to the hatch I used glue (Leech F-26) and wood strips w/ screws...after the glue was dry I removed the strips and screws... Lookin good, keep up the great work.

I used lot and lots of clamps. No holes to fill or seal.

Thank You Keith and Bledsoe...Now I can go ahead and have some fun.. Just a beautiful sunny day here in Finland ... so got to make use of the time..in my outdoor Arctic Shop...

May have to go and get me some more clamps though...I remember in the very beginning asking as to how many clamps are needed.. Now I know what our friends here meant by lots...

If you are covering it with AL, then you can use brads/staples to help hold it in place.

Ira Ira Ira... from the photo of your Avatar, YOUR TD is campable...ours is not... while it's fun building this thing, the sun is bright today and I'm thinking it'd be MORE fun to go camping in it tonight....or do you hate out guts because you want to build another one... I bet your local lumber yard has plenty of ply for you to get started tonight
