1 or 2 piece floors

I,m trying to get my floor plan together for a 5' x 8' teardrop but I cant find any plywood 5' wide at any of my home stores. So my thought was to take two 4' x 8' sheets and some how edge glue them together and cut 3' off the end and then I will have my 5' x 8' sheet. My question is, Is this the correct way to do it or should I just keep looking for one 5' x 8' sheet.

That's the way I did it.

Put mine together with biscuits but dowels, or spline will work too.

Hey Sham,
I just framed mine out of 2x2 and put the butt joint on a 2x4 and glued and screwed and this left room for insulation

Stay away from the home stores. Find a real lumber yard. If they don't have it, they can get it.

ping-pong board is 5x9 - you'll need to go to a "lumber yard"...

I made my own 5' wide plywood out of plywood that was half as thick as what I wanted to end out with. I just over lapped it so their is 3' overlapped and a 1' section on each side.

Jim & Keith suggested something very good, Don't forget your local lumber store! You really might be surprised at how helpful they are and how they can special order stuff for you. Heck, most of us are on "teardrop time" so its not like we have to be in a hurry.

I went to a local lumbar yard and got a 5' X 8' X 1" sanded second for $58. That's about 1/2 of what a 5'X8'X3/4 " costs.
