Andrew (or anyone else), I just looked at the A-liner design on the forum here. Round front, square back.

I know it's not typical tear drop, but construction would be more simple, galley would be simpler...

So, once again, I ask. Does the square back really make much aero difference over the typical sloped teardrop design?

I believe I asked this months ago, and you said it would make little difference, but am looking for confirmation.

I have finished the frame and the floor... time to get going on the walls so need to finalize the rest of the design..... I think I'm going from "form" to "function"...

Also, the A-liner has an overhang... I think that would be too low for me, but am curious what effect that might have, if any....

Can someone direct to the the topic or album with the a-liner teardrop knock-off diagram? I just looked at it 10 minutes ago and now can't find it... it was a pencil sketch which showed the rear overhang....

I'd like to study it more closely.... thank you....

Nope. The airflow cannot follow the steep back of most (probably all) teardrops, so it's of limited benefit in reducing drag. A 'square' back has the advantage that the flow can remain attached to the roof all the way to the back.

There are some practical problems though. Apart from banging your head, you may have a problem with the cooker being too near the roof above it. That's why in my 'Simple', I took the back part of the roof with the hatch. This overcomes the head-banging too:

Yes, that is the diagram I was looking for.. I've printed it off this time..

Andrew, your design solves one of my concerns, the head banging part... very nice, thank you.
